Solutions Architect/Sales Engineer

bv02 is seeking a digital solutions architect to support business development activities by designing solutions and writing, editing, and managing the delivery of winning proposals and quotations for clients and prospects. This is a new position that helps to provide services in support of our clients’ digital systems and business processes. This role is critical in ensuring that business requirements are properly captured in order to design appropriate solutions for effective delivery over the full project lifecycle. This role initiates and facilitates communication with team members to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of quotes and proposals. The Solution Architect requires strong communication skills in order to clearly communicate ideas and concepts to clients and bv02 staff.

You will be responsible for:

  • Improving solution development and documentation by participating in strategic consultations and facilitations with clients and bv02 staff;
  • Supporting the sales process by scoping (providing estimated level of effort) for new business
  • Helping to build and shape superior business requirements (user stories)
  • In collaboration with others, analyzing and communicating stakeholder business requirements by defining the business problem
  • Helping to define the scope and recommended approach for client projects and ensure that strategies and execution meet client objectives
  • Reviewing and correcting requirements statements (user stories) including acceptance criteria
  • Drawing out key business insights and providing actionable recommendations. Helping interpret and communicating findings and solutions in a way that is easily understood by all stakeholders
  • Identifying the best solution for the particular circumstances, advocating and ensuring its adoption and acceptance among stakeholders
  • Translating business requirements into a viable and feasible solutions architecture that can be delivered to budget, on time and to the required quality
  • Scoping levels of effort for proposals, active projects and change requests
  • Identifying and qualifying opportunities from multiple procurement vehicles (e.g. MERX)
  • Ordering and analyzing requests for proposals (RFPs), identifying and communicating bid/no bid recommendations, tracking leads and opportunities
  • Coordinating and leading proposal strategy meetings
  • Establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review and approval
  • Ensuring all notes and associated documents for all opportunities are properly documented in our CRM database and document storage server
  • Gathering and formatting information for quotes and proposals; writing/editing drafts; obtaining approvals
  • Maintaining quality results by using approved templates; following bv02 proposal-writing standards including formatting, readability, consistency and tone
  • Developing proposals using assembling boilerplate information including project understanding, scope of work, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, corporate profile, approach and methodology, timetable, staff profiles and pricing as a basis to build upon
  • Obtaining approvals by reviewing proposal with key internal stakeholders and project managers
  • Working with Business Development Director to provide ongoing improvements for proposal processes, tools, templates, archives, boilerplate, etc.
  • Developing industry and company knowledge by participating in educational opportunities (e.g., lunch and learns, client reviews)

  • Can develop and maintain positive relationships with clients and bv02 staff
  • Can communicate ideas and complex concepts clearly and effectively
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) in order to effectively liaise with business users, members of project team, strategic technology partners and internal technical support teams
  • Effective time management and organization skills with the ability to use diplomacy, judgment, and persuasion to secure agreement and co-operation from support areas and the project teams
  • Very good understanding of current IT and digital practices
  • Keep up to date with emerging industry trends and technologies

Experience / Education

  • Minimum three (3) years experience developing solutions and proposal responses using standard templates and proposal writing processes
  • Salesforce CRM experience is an asset
  • Experience using Apple products is an asset
